Who is it for?

In order to be eligible for Teaching Leaders you'll need to demonstrate the following:

Teaching Leaders is for ambitious middle leaders in urban schools who want to make more of an impact on their schools and who share the view that every child deserves the chance to be all they can be. If that's what you see in yourself then Teaching Leaders may be the right option for you.

So, you'll need to be driven by a mission to inspire the futures of pupils in complex urban schools. However Teaching Leaders is also a highly practical programme, rooted in addressing the challenges that beset urban schools and that hold back pupils' achievement. It's a demanding choice requiring both commitment and determination. You'll be closely supported, both by your Headteacher and by an external individual coach, but you will have to be prepared to invest additional time and energy to take advantage of the development opportunities it presents.

And above all, you'll have to be ambitious to fulfil your own potential, as well as that of the people around you. Teaching Leaders is about becoming more effective in the role you currently occupy - as a teacher and a leader of teaching and learning.
