What is Teaching Leaders?
‘Heads of department rarely receive adequate training before they are appointed; their induction is often cursory and most learn on the job.' Ofsted 2004-5
Teaching Leaders is an innovative two-year development programme designed to focus and realise the leadership and management talents of middle leaders in complex urban schools. It will help you achieve something special - to drive measurable improvements in pupil achievement. The programme has been developed in partnership with four of the UK's most forward-thinking educational organisations: ARK, NCSL, Teach First and Future Leaders.
As a middle leader, you are among the most important and influential figures in your school, and are uniquely placed to address the challenges within complex urban schools. You have the potential to shape the futures of hundreds of pupils through the effectiveness of your team and the teaching and learning strategies you encourage and lead.
Improvements and best practice in teaching methods, new initiatives and policy change - they all come through you, and your effectiveness as a leader will be the determining factor in their success in your school.
Teaching Leaders will provide you with the specialist knowledge and training to make the most of your leadership and management talents and to become an effective and inspiring leader in your school. And through Teaching Leaders you will take responsibility for driving measurable improvements in pupil development and achievement.
