Teaching Leaders is more than just a programme: it is an experience that allows participants to expand their horizons and deepen their understanding as well as exposing them to a range of leading edge opportunities.
The Summer Residential is the start of your full Teaching Leaders immersion. You will have an introduction to the core programme concepts, a week getting to know your fellow participants, coaches and the central team, and some exciting events along the way. The 2012 residential will take place in the last week of August.
“Initially, I was unsure about spending a week of my summer holiday at the residential, but I can honestly say that it was one of the most inspiring and enjoyable weeks of my career. Spending time getting to know the others on the programme was really rewarding for later on. “

Personalised Coaching from a current or former secondary school senior leader enables participants to draw from years of experience and support from those who know the issues they are facing inside out. Coaches are also able to personalise the programme content: stretching the participants in their own development areas.
Our MA Pathway provides a tailored route to gain Masters Credits and pick up the latest from the world of educational research. Participants can extend and deepen their knowledge of particular topics from an academic perspective.
- The Masters accreditation is provided by the University of Warwick, and is an optional extra part of Teaching Leaders
- It is entitled "Educational Leadership (Teaching Leaders)", Course Code P-X31R
- The two year core programme provides two thirds (120 credits) of a Masters at a small additional cost to the participant
- A full Masters can be obtained through a dissertation in the third year - again the cost is subsidised but the remainder must be funded by the participant
Networking Events allow participants to meet with Teaching Leaders alumni, as well as participants on our partner programmes Future Leaders and Teach First - plus senior members of government departments and the corporate sector.
International Visits offer the opportunity to learn about the education system in another country, with a focus on one aspect of teaching and learning. Those on the trips see and learn from best practice during the visit and return with a range of practical ideas.
The Teaching Leaders System provides a toolkit which:
- guides participants through planning their Improvement Initiative
- enables them to analyse pupil performance and track progress.
- Allows them to access the Leadership Competency Framework, which enables them to track their own self-development as a middle leader over the course of the programme
- Provides access to our intranet, where participants can network with colleagues, view upcoming events, stay up-to-date with current research, and more.
