We realise that middle leaders need more than just formal training and ideas to allow themselves, their teams and their pupils to fulfil their potential. That's why Teaching Leaders is more than just a formal training programme.
It has been designed to provide a holistic experience throughout the two years participants are on the programme: a 5-stage journey combining formal training, coaching and support, and unique experiences with an improvement initiative at the heart of it all. It is through this combination that we aim to create an experience which will stay with you throughout the journey to becoming an outstanding middle leader and beyond.
"Teaching Leaders has provided me with a wealth of structures, frameworks and safety nets for managing challenging circumstances when leading a team. The training has focused my management skills and aided my transfer from teaching to leadership.'"

1. The journey that helps participants progress from being an outstanding teacher to a team leader driving change across their area: Explore, Embark, Embed, Extend, Empower.
2. Formal training consists of a series of day workshops and evening seminars spread across 6 terms: covering a range of skills relating to Leadership and Management competencies.
3. The Improvement Initiative is the main focus of the programme and where you demonstrate the impact you can have on a group of underachieving pupils in your area of responsibility.
4. A team of coaches, education and leadership experts as well as current and former participants in our urban leader network support you in your mission
5. A Summer residential, the chance to go on an international trip to learn about education abroad, an MA module, best practice visits and other opportunities to network and share your journey.
The Teaching Leaders Journey
We aim to take you from your starting point (wherever it is) to being a truly outstanding middle leader, through the five stages of the Teaching Leaders journey:
Explore your context so you have all the information you need to plan a high-impact Improvement Initiative;
Embark on your Improvement Initiative, putting your ideas into practice and testing their effectiveness;
Extend your focus to ensure your initiative makes the most of all the skills and learnings you (and your team) have acquired to date;
Embed your process in the school by systemising your initiative;
Empower others to continue it.
