TL Schools overview
TL Schools is a bespoke, leadership development programme for the whole middle leadership team. It is designed to strengthen and develop the entire middle leadership team to give them the skills to make a significant impact on pupil outcomes across the school. The programme also works effectively for middle leaders across groups of schools e.g. an alliance or cluster. Teaching Leaders is a charity which focuses on addressing educational disadvantage by growing a movement of middle leaders, we therefore only work with primary and secondary schools in challenging contexts. Please see our eligibility criteria here.
Schools work in strategic partnership with Teaching Leaders, setting ambitious targets which will be closely monitored by the senior leadership team and through discussions with Teaching Leaders, in order to ensure that they are achieved. These targets are developed using TL diagnostic tools to identify desired impact on pupil outcomes, and therefore priority areas of development for your middle leadership teams.
Together we tailor and shape your programme around these priority areas, selecting from a wide range of differentiated development modules e.g.
- How to observe a lesson and give feedback
- How to write an agenda and chair a meeting
- How to have the conversations you dread
- Improving teaching and learning (part 1 and part 2)
A full list of the development modules can be obtained from your regional School Relations team. These professional development sessions are delivered in your school by our team of experienced facilitators.

The standard programme costs £12,000, although each programme is designed to be tailored to each individual school’s needs.
