Eligibility criteria
To ensure we’re working to our mission and that you get the most out of our programme it’s important you meet our eligibility criteria. We have eligibility criteria for both candidates and schools. Please check you meet these requirements below. If you’re unsure if you or your school is eligible, please just give us a call.
Candidates
Eligibility
Please ensure you have:
- 0-3 years middle leadership experience, though we also welcome applications from more experienced candidates who feel able and willing to learn new ideas
- A middle leadership post confirmed for 2012-13 in an eligible school
- Formal responsibility for the results of at least two staff.
- Lesson observation rated ‘good’ or ‘outstanding’ in last two observations (either Ofsted or formal in-school)
Roles we accept include:
- Subject Leaders
- Head of Faculty or Year
- 2ic of English, Science or Maths (e.g. Head of KS3 Maths) but not in other subjects unless there is a clear justification (e.g. the Head of department is also on SLT and so 2IC is in effect running the department
- Whole school or Pastoral roles e.g. Head of G&T, Head of whole school literacy, Head of SEN
Commitment
Please ensure you are:
- Able to attend a half day assessment centre, which may occur during school hours
- Able to attend the induction day (13th July 2012), the summer residential (19th-24th August 2012) and formal training throughout 2012/2013 out of school time
- Planning to remain in your school for the two years you’re on the programme
- Happy to give 10 days of personal contribution time within five years of completing the programme

Eligibility
It's important your school falls in to at least one of our three eligibility criteria:
- The school has more than 50% of pupils living in the lowest 30% of the IDACI
- The school has 15% or more pupils in receipt of free school meals (FSM)
- The school's GCSE attainment is in the lowest 30% of the national distribution (5 A* - C including English and Maths), which is under 50% for 2012.
Commitment
It's equally important your school and Headteacher fully supports your application and agrees to:
- Our conditions and costs
- Provide an in-school liaison during your time on the programme
- Allocate you one protected non-contact period per week for Teaching Leaders related work (e.g. Improvement Initiative and coaching visits)
